Counted maybe 10 *pot break* sound effects. The whole thing seems like a bunch of various SNL sketches pieced together. Overall, a lot of memorable scenes, but nothing to write home about.

In the Mood for Love

I'm horrible at placing things around a 4 or 4.5. I feel like a 4.5 has to be more entertaining to me or more of an experience, but maybe I just need to become the filmbro. Absolutely gorgeous in every shot, especially loved the extended dialogue scenes where you know they were stressing to fit it into the 4 minutes allowed for the film roll. This Christopher Doyle guy seems pretty good (same with Wong Kar-wai ofc).

Chungking Express

My first experience with a Wong Kar-wai film, and I'm already itching for more. The whole thing was beautifully shot throughout, and Doyle's handheld camera makes Hong Kong feel alive and claustrophobic all at once. The step-printing (I had to look this effect up lol) gives certain scenes this hypnotic, half-dreamed quality. I think I would really give it like a 4.25... something just not there to push it into the 4.5 category. Also, big ups to all the nice jazz music. Big fan. **Sponsored by Coca-Cola**
