As many have mentioned before, American Psycho is a depiction of a generation full of narcissistic wallstreet yuppies that were (are) carbon copies of each other (hilariously hinted in the business card scene) that take and take and take until there's no sanity left in their body. The real state agent (in charge of cleaning up Paul Allen's apartment) is a representation of the society. People who are well aware of the behind the scenes' crimes but stay tight-lipped about it because it brings them fortune. All those people are really murdered and Pat Bateman really exists but who's he other than another egocentric wallstreet self-obsessed prick? Why would people recognize him when all of them (including his so called sophisticated friends) look the same? Tenchnical wise the movie has benefited a lot from a sharp female director, a stellar cast (Christian Bale never disappoints) and an on point cinematography. The plot could've used more punch-in-the-gut moments but all in all it's an important piece of work. <b>× Best Line: </b>My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact, I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape.

[9/10] This was a rewatch for me, and I remembered really loving it the first time. Several scenes were still surprisingly vivid in my memory, but it'd been a few years, and I worried that it might not hold up on a second viewing. I’m happy to share that wasn’t the case at all. I loved it just as much this time, if not more! For now, I agree with my original 9/10 rating. I was chuckling through almost the entire film. The satire is so effective, and the humor is just constant. I think it's sometimes blatant, sometimes pretty subtle. And I think almost all of it is intentional. The script is so hilarious. I can see how some viewers might sort of miss the point, not that that is the only thing that could hold someone back from loving this film. I’m just glad to be someone who appreciates it because, for me, it’s genuinely one of the best viewing experiences I’ve had. A gift that keeps on giving, for sure. The pacing might seem off to some people, but I feel it's just part of the detached perspective we’re being shown. There’s nothing I’d necessarily want to change about this film, but it's just not something I’d want to watch all the time. As funny as it is, it is also disturbing. If I wasn't a horror fan, I probably wouldn't like this movie. But watching it really is a great time, and if anyone ever (on a random basis) asked me to watch it with them, I’d be thrilled to do so. Would love to see it at the theater if I ever get the chance!

Fantastic performance from Christian Bale, He totally goes against grain in this movie....I have read that the screenwriter and Director say that they wanted to create an ambigious ending, but they say he definitely committed the murders, however for me they went too far the direction of it all being in his mind, when Dafoe pulls out the Huey Lewis cd, the gun blowing up cars, the body in the bathroom and cupboards all appearing then disappearing, and the chainsaw miraculously killing the girl down the stair, i think its all in his mind! , But I love the movie, great fun, .......and when ever I want to get out of a situation now, I will use the line....."I have some video tapes to return"
