highly recommend this for fans of tennis and the male body.
also josh o'connor is so stunning in this, in a way I was afraid he wouldn't. was absolutely obsessed with him as king charles, with this royal clean girl twink look, and I was SCARED to watch him play a charismatic charming sweaty hairy sex symbol BUT IT WORKS??? this movie could've been so much worse if they failed to cast a sexy enough cast, due to the nature of the film, and yet they somehow manager to book the absolutely best trio for the job, despite both boys being fairly new to that type of role.
anyways i think i like tennis now. maybe it is all just about tennis.
Only the 3-3.5 stars or less reviews are talking about the film in detail, and none of the reviews praising it as a "masterpiece" devote more than a line other than discussing sexuality or sex. I guess that's one kind of bait you can just put in your movie nowadays and have people go gaga over it.

Finally got around to this on a long plane ride. The editing and the format of this film is amazing, but man do I hate Zendaya in this. It’s not that she’s a bad actress, it’s that she such a convincing actress and her character is such an awful person that at times it becomes hard to separate character from actor. I suppose that’s a good thing though.
5.5/10. I enjoyed it first because I like tennis and second because the story and the characters were also very interesting. Loved the conflicts, great acting but the ending was wtf and ruined the whole thing.

a love story told through stolen moments, <i>Challengers</i> has been on my mind since the day I watched it for the first time (and then a second, and a third). Forward yet unassuming, fiery yet ice cold. I've heard people call this a portrayal of a subtle trouple, a play on polyamory, a triangle of mingle but to me (biased and overjoyed by muted visuals of affection) this is a recital of Patrick and Art's rivalry, a ceaseless back and forth of love. a game that never ends. It's quite a simple story really, one written by the pens of many and come alive through the eyes of plenty but what earns <i>Guadagnino</i>'s latest hit the match point is its ability to burn the frame down by almost doing nothing. Maybe pulling your best friend's chair closer truly IS the most romantic gesture one can show. I've seen many call this movie a queerbait but, I believe, people who are blind to subtext and addicted to in-your-face pseudo delineation of queer characters should sit this one out. and don't sit on Art's chair.

I quite enjoyed this. You see struggle, depression, unhappiness, greed, betrayal.. then there are artistic choices and just enough sexuality to make it sexy.
