The beautiful evolution of Rocky! Opening with the ever so iconic song "The eye of the tiger" with glimpses of his growth, glory, and life as a champion. Just the right inspirational song to get us into the mentality and the world of champions and their drive. A good organic growth can be seen in all of the major characters, while Rocky still grows character and improves skills to believable yet astronomical peaks. Not to mention new exciting and heartwarming dynamics between old rivals. However, the main antagonist, Clubber Lang is the worst kind of matchup for Rocky. Not just because of his unlikable and poor technical skills as a mindless mauler but also because his entire character is nothing but the fact that he's a mindless power puncher. But forcing Rocky to change his entire style is an added benefit along with the reduced runtime. When compared to the previous films, the film is very glamorous and exhibition-like, getting Hulk Hogan for ridiculously over-the-top exhibition matches and the visible production value and conditions. Overall, it's yet another great film that's more concerned about the champion's glory, and also doesn't forget its roots.
