The greatest rematch in the history of cinema! Starts off with that intense chaotic recap of the last fight with the protagonist going through his emotions and seemingly finding what matters most to him at the end of that war. Then goes on to show the humane sides of the characters, especially the protagonist navigating his life, marriage, and career. Once again a top-notch performance and direction by Stallone. All around solid storytelling and excellent screenplay with each dialogue befitting each quirky character of the film and their on-and-off camera antics and personalities. And that character driven narrative is the best way to set up the match, making us invest all our emotions in the underdog for the entire film, and to pay it all off at the end of it all is once again proven to be the best form of writing for any sports-centric film, especially combat sports. Not to mention the perfect soundtrack befitting the underdog's warrior mentality and the drive to overcome an impossible task no matter the cost. Although its very similar to it's predecessor in terms of format and struct of it's acts, it still stands out thanks to the character development and the slow world building. Overall, it's a great film that delivers and keeps us intrigued in the world of Rocky.
