husband spoiled this for me when I told him I wanted to watch it months ago, so I put it off because it annoyed me that I had the end ruined. probably would've figured it out by the first 20 min anyways, but that always easy to say when you already know. thought this would be more horror-y and less oscar bait-y but whatever. I think the munchausen by proxy plot was my favourite, and honestly this movie made me wanna watch ghost whisperer again. was obsessed with that show my entire childhood. really wish that aspect of helping the ghosts took up more of the movie's time. the kid is a great actor but most of the performance here is pretty over-the-top but so is the script. idk I'm not a fan of m night shyamalan but i thought his earlier stuff would be significantly different, the way people talk about him.

Goddang, Haley Hoel Osment, Bruce Willis and Toni Collette acted their tushies off in this. I remember the story and twist, but it still hits hard watching this decades later. Unreal child acting from Haley.
A really well done movie although the twist was slightly predictable. More than the twist, I feel like this movie is underappreciated for some of the acting. The obvious callouts are Bruce Willis, Joel Osment and Toni Collette. Some top notch performances all around.
Some of the shot frames in the first half were also really really good. Looking at the CV of Night, I fail to see how this is not his best movie by far!
Pacing is one of the most important things of the movie and that is the only downfall for me. The middle of the second half slightly slows down. Apart from the twist, it needed something else to keep the viewers hooked and it lacked that special oomph which was evident in the middle sections. Still a solid 8/10 for me.
