the lore around this movie is interesting and fascinating and I respect what it did for horror as a genre but god is it boring. I've watched this before, I think, or at least I watched mspt of it before in 2016 (right after I saw the remakes in cinemas with some high school friends). I'm bound to be more nostalgic for the infamous bad remake (which I thought was just play, back then). im re?watching this one for my Birth Year Challenge ('99, babyyyy)

I get that this is a classic in it's own genre but what the fuck happened at the end? so many unsolved questions.

the overall atmosphere and the descent of their sanity as they struggle to remain calm is the reason this movie did so well and unintelligent people will just not get that my gosh like just say you're a beta male and move on

The movie is sooo good but I have one thing to say: Heather is so annoying it’s crazy

I am all for good script vs good SFX etc al. But this was booooooooor💤💤💤💤💤ing. I didn't feel any of this "thrill", tension or whatever. ANY X-Files episode is much better than this. I felt gratefully i did rented it instead of buying it. Yes it started a sub-genre, and watched about two of these "found footage", none was better than this one. I don't remember which series made a king of homage to the sub-genre, and that was at least tolerable. To me it felt like a failed suspense movie. Disappointing.
