[4.0/10] This was cute enough, if not exactly a high water mark, when it was just about a poor kid (albeit an annoying one) being whisked away to Santa Claus’ workshop. But then it turned into a seemingly never-ending parade of racial stereotypes and the thing fell off a cliff. The short is a little interesting forensically as a glimpse at the Xmas spirit in popular culture during the Great Depression, and the animation isn’t bad by any stretch. (The little dolls’ dance is cute.) But there’s not much in terms of gags or clever scenes, and what little there is becomes quickly washed away in a sea of racism and ugly caricatures. One to skip unless you're a completionist.
