[7.7/10] I don’t really know enough about *Minecraft* to get some of the more specific jokes in this episode, but I know just enough about it (and video game tropes generally) to follow along and the episode pretty much filled in the rest! Honestly, aside from the blockiness of the *Minecraft* vibe, this felt like a bit of a throwback to early episodes of the show, where everyone was just sort of palling around and getting into trouble, and it was a lot of fun! That said, I really liked the subtle theme of the episode, about how games give us a sense of purpose, even mining games, that may be misaimed but which is soothing in its way, however fleeting that may be. As usually, it’s a thought-provoking, sideways method of getting at that idea. But even if you don’t want to get into the heady side of *Adventure Time*, the fun side is more than enough. LSP trying to run her Gravel Gang for “griefing” purpose was enjoyable. Marceline and Princess Bubblegum building a windmill together to make bone meal was very genial as well. And the lot of them helping out Lemongrab to make his lemontree grow was a lot of fun too. Plus there were small but neat connections between stories, like Lemongrab’s accidental apple tree providing the necessary ingredient for Treetrunks’s pies. Overall, this episode is definitely a lark, but a thoroughly enjoyable one, with just enough reflection in it to make it something more as well.
