Love Vishal Bhardwaj, but this ain’t it. Somewhere in trying to make this grand and commercial, he lost his grip on what makes his films special. The execution is messy, and the screenplay is outright atrocious at times, scenes drag, emotional beats don’t land, and the narrative feels hollow. The acting performances are solid across the board. No complaints there. The cast genuinely tries to sell the material. But the film completely lacks the depth and emotional intensity it thinks it has. When the climax hits with the line, “Koi kisi se itna pyaar kaise kar sakta hai?”, I felt nothing. The intensity, the longing, the madness of love that Bhardwaj clearly wanted to portray just never translates on screen. This ends up being style over substance, and worse, the little substance it had gets buried under poor execution. Disappointing, especially from someone capable of masterpieces.
