If you've seen Mumbai Police, you already know the "Who" and "How" of this murder mystery - what you're really here for is the new "Why" that the makers promised. However, this prior knowledge can affect your viewing experience. Since the "Who" is no longer a mystery, you're left piecing together the "Why" from every plot point, which isn't particularly challenging for a mystery film.
That said, the movie remains entertaining, offering a massy take on the character and a fresh storyline. Rather than a direct remake, it feels more like an adaptation of Mumbai Police. Shahid Kapoor carries the film on his shoulders, delivering a great performance. While the second half stumbles a bit after a gripping first half, it still makes for an engaging watch - especially for those who haven't seen Mumbai Police.
