still crying while reviewing this :') wow... i had high expectations going into this because <i>talk to me </i>is probably one of the only horror films these last couple of years that have actually stayed on my mind. i was blown away by this. i didn't think I'd end up loving it, even halfway through I was sure this would be a four star. but man... these brothers make me really really emotional, every time. i normally hate horror movies about women who lose their kids and go crazy. because its a trope that i think is both overdone and sort of exploits trauma and uses it for cheap backstory for a woman to kill. it's never as sympathetic as, for example rape-revenge horror, and especially because the victims never deserve it and are often innocent kids. and obviously, as someone who has lost a baby, I don't like seeing myself as a villain lol. however i really connected with the trope this time. i don't really know why. but the scene where the foster mom sits back to back with andy, crying.. bro. yeah. I get it. fuck man. we often say we'd do anything to bring them back. the kids in this too!!!! man, the kids... the last scene with connor is so fucking insane. I can't believe how they ended this movie... andy's acting is extraordinary and the grief on his way throughout this movie is just too much, it makes me nauseous more than the gore. actually I was just really scared throughout this movie. not because of the horror, or gore, but because i was so scared anything would happen to these kids when <i>you know it will. </i>and the gore was so much, i can't remember the last time I watched such a gorey film that actually made me want to look away and ends with me watching some scenes through my fingers. the dental/mouth gore especially. that's some gruesome stuff!!! and it kept going ;!!! this is a very sad movie. again. I feel like I watched a different movie to everyone else commenting lol First, I definitely agree that it was well acted and directed. The cast was excellent, especially Jonah Wren Phillips as Olly, whose stellar performance sold the creep factor of his character. Also, Sora Wong (who does actually have limited vision) was great too. She had never acted in anything before this movie and she did an amazing job in her role as Piper. And visually, the movie looked great. Whoever did the set decorating and costuming got it spot on, and location was really good too. However, there was nothing really in this movie that hasn't been done before in many other horror movies. It was incredibly predictable and unsurprising. And there were plenty of plot holes too. For example: Why didn't Andy phone an ambulance when Olly tried to EAT A KNIFE and then collapsed into a fit outside? And when Andy went to talk to Wendy there was a police officer present, but the police didn't go to check out his claim of a kidnapped child? wtf? One of the bigger plot holes for me was that Laura had her dead daughter in a freezer in the greenhouse. How? did no one know she was dead? or did she dig the body up out of the grave? how did no one notice the grave had been disturbed? plenty of other little things that didn't make sense either. That all said, do I think it was a terrible movie? eh, not really. I think it was good at exploring what grief and trauma can do to a person, and I think that its worth a watch if you want something to just watch on a rainy sunday and not think too hard about it or something, but its definitely not a 10/10 or even a "best horror of the year". Its average at best.

I would, however, have liked to know a little more about the story behind this famous recording. Who filmed it? How did it happen? How long ago? Who were these people? How did Laura get her hands on this recording? There's still a lot of mystery behind this one, and it deserves a second opus.
