My immediate reaction was: “what a horseshit fuckass movie.” I still gave it a couple hours to settle, hoping maybe I would think of something salvageable here. After thinking it through, I can say this is truly a horseshit fuckass movie.
This thing is so bland it makes cardboard look exciting. Scenes shuffle from one plotline to another like the movie itself forgot what it was doing, they never develop and none of them land. By the time it ends, if you can even call that abrupt stop an “ending”, you’re left staring at the credits wondering if the film reel broke or something.
Ethan Coen feels utterly clueless here. At this point, the best experiment he could do is picking up the phone, calling Joel, and actually making another banger again.
Some funny moments, but overall feels like a half-baked film that couldn't decide what it wanted to do. There are some funny moments and great performances, with Chris Evans being a highlight. I did like it a great deal more than Drive Away Dolls.
While this had a slower start for me, it picked up momentum as it progressed.. The plot is loose here, it isn't a strong single plot story, rather it is about the journey Honey takes, all stemming from a phone call.
Well cast, Well Acted, and I enjoyed it.
As for the sex scenes... I will say it.. the bar scene was so much hotter than any scene with nudity.... I do very much enjoy that they pulled off lesbian sex scenes in this in a manner that didn't feel so fake, stupid, or just about seeing tits and ass...
