Impressive movie,especially for 1931. I was invested throughout the whole movie but I did think the first half of the movie was more interesting to me.

"𝑰 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒊 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒆." This German classic by Fritz Lang is about a child-murderer who has the whole city scared. Lang considered this film to be his magnum opus and we can clearly see why. A timeless classic with perfect sense of horror and thrill. Peter Lorre as the killer was horrifying and creepy as one could be. His monologue surprisingly drives sympathy into us and we're left questioning everything that we've been believing since the starting. This is not your typical vigilante justice movie, but instead it takes a different turn towards the end. Fritz Lang was a genius to make one of the earliest serial-killer movies and that too his first sound film. This movie had the use of groundbreaking lighting and offscreen sound to maximize a sense of horror which it does beautifully. We have to appreciate the influence of this movie on tons of the modern crime thrillers.
