<i>late night with the devil </i>got under my skin in a way i didn’t imagine it doing. i’ve had a weird relationship with this movie over the past few months based on some personal exterior conditions, but i’m glad i can say i’ve seen it so i can finally put that era of my life to rest.  the found footage aesthetic isn’t lost on me at all. i think it fits the concept of the work perfectly and integrates very nicely with the script. everyone acts wonderfully, the plot is well-executed, and the concept is unlike most modern horror movies i’ve seen recently.  what does lose me is the pacing, though. it’s a very fun movie, but it’s a super slow burn. for a 90-minute film, it felt longer than its runtime (most definitely not longer than <i>madame web</i>, which i happened to watch directly before this). i don’t necessarily wish the pacing was accelerated; however, i wish the time slot it was given was executed a little bit more efficiently. there’s some very obvious foreshadowing i picked up on super early in the film and i spent the whole thing wondering when they were going to develop those secretly opened plot holes, but instead, numerous other plot devices were introduced and those were furthered. my only thing that left me wanting more was the tie-ins and super unsteady loose ends.  additionally, or the elephant in the room: AI art! using generative AI in a professional setting isn’t something i can consciously support. i felt like the title cards were very obviously generated with an AI and it definitely detached from the immersive experience for me. despite this widely distributed and non-unique belief of mine, <i>dune: part two </i>used a machine learning artificial intelligence model to color everyone’s eyes blue and i gave that movie a 9 (and saw it in theaters, so i directly funded their efforts!) so, in my mind, it’s not an unreal negative on the film since other, more mainstream films can do the exact same thing and fly completely under the radar for it.  fun-ish watch! movie fuckin terrified me lol

Awesome format and awesome premise. David Dastmalchian is… well… awesome! This will definitely be in the running for my favorite horror movie this year.

I knew I had to watch this when I saw it was by the producers of Barbarian, and I wasn't disappointed. It's not a "scary" horror film, but it did keep me on the edge of my seat. It plays to classic horror tropes, and gives me a classic Twilight Zone vibe. If you've seen a lot of classic horror then you can probably guess where it's headed part way into the film, but despite it being somewhat predictable I didn't find it any less entertaining.

love the 70’s halloween vibes and the way they filmed it but got bored like 45 mins in. the audiences halloween costumes were cute

I liked the setting and the vibe the movie had going. The final payoff was pretty good but maybe overhyped a bit. But overall, I thought it was pretty good.

Da gusto ver películas de terror tan bien hechas, originales, entretenidas, interesantes y con tanto cariño detrás. Es tan buena que no me ha importado que esté en 4:3. Aún así, el final estaba bien pero no me ha gustado tanto.
