This is one of those films that I've been meaning to watch for many many years and I'm not sure if the hype got to me, or I'm not taking the year it was released into context or <b>something, </b>just I just didn't love it. The film is fine. Woody Allen is doing his schtick (which I've <b>never</b> been attracted to, and the comedy is clearly well written, and yet I just didn't care about any of it. None of it felt real in any way. I do appreciate the influence it clearly had on writers and filmmakers that I adore. It's like the Rolling Stones for me. I've never enjoyed their music. But I appreciate them for influencing the musicians I <b>do</b> like. I was pleasantly surprised to see all the actors I didn't know were in this... Goldblum, Walken, Kane, and Duvall?? Wonderful.
