Insane true story. Truly heartwarming to know that such miracles can occur while also tragic to see the damage that nature can do. Also funny to see a young Tom Holland. He gave quite a good performance for his age. Usually I feel that younger actors are overlooked when placed alongside big names like Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts but Holland truly shined above the two.

It feels wrong saying that something based on a horrible event was filmed so beautifully, but The Impossible really does capture everything quite well. The disaster is a focus on the film, but the performances and the survivability and hope they bring to the screen really does make this a great movie.
