What were we expecting from a director who got a walking "L" in his name already? Raksha Bandhan is just another big L in his filmography which tries to raise an important issue and deliver a social message just like a typical Akshay Kumar movie. A movie which is supposed to be based on brother-sister relationship ends up making the sisters a sub-plot to cover the love story of the male protagonist. There is clearly no bond shown between Akshay and his sisters which makes it hard to connect with them. But somehow the emotional scenes work in general because that's how people feel during a tragedy. Aanand's idea of showing brother-sister relationship was to show a banter of a typical brother bullying his sisters and calling them names but that just comes off kinda weird and doesn't work. Also the director and writers just left everything after the 1h35min mark, they just wanted to be over with this movie and rushed the climax like hell giving no satisfaction to the cause that movie actually stood for. The sentiments and issues raised are important but bad writing and bad execution don't cover for it. Other than a few good comedy scenes with good comic timing of Akshay Kumar in the first half, this movie has nothing to offer! <a href="https://boxd.it/gG816">2022 Ranked (Indian)</a>
