I'm not a <b>swiftie</b>, never was and probably never will be. Growing up as a middle eastern girl (I check all the boxes, don't I?) <i>Taylor</i> <i>Swift</i> has never been a woman I could see myself in. On paper (and well, in truth) She's a well-off American girl who got world famous at the age of 15 and is still riding a high a decade and a half later. As years went by, with the help of the media and numerous controversies surrounding her, I started to see her in a much different light. In my mind she was capitalism in human form and to this day I can't quite grasp what incident exactly made me think so negetively of her.
But after the <i>Scooter Braun</i> fiasco, I slowly began to untangle the dehumanized version of this woman which was fed to us for years and started to see the full picture. That picture was completed when I watched <i>Miss Americana</i>.
At times <b>directionless</b> (People who don't know about the West-Kardashian drama are not gonna be able to follow the story smoothly) and <b>corny</b> (I mean, it did feel like a commercial at times), this hour and a half long portrait of <i>Taylor</i> depicts her as the woman she has always been: In need of constant praise, understandably vulnerable and a damn fine business woman.
this film is far from a masterpiece but it's a decent dive into the private world of one of the biggest singers of this generation.
