The unbelievable dichotomy between the unbearable crassness that spews from Salam's mouth for the first half hour of this doc, and the philanthropy he does for those in need is unlike anything I've seen before. Don't get me wrong, the crassness continues past the 30 minute mark, Salam can't seem to help himself. The awkward looks on his customer's faces is actually difficult to get past. It's like he's using the entire population of Vancouver as his therapist whether they like it or not. But if you do? You see the kind heartedness hiding under a LIFETIME of trauma. Does that justify the insanity that he shares? I don't know. I am FAR from prude and I just cannot get over his approach to life. I am glad I watched the film, but I don't know if I can actually recommend this to others.
