Just a huge whatever, this movie is really hurt by a couple main factors. While I think the cast is solid and the costuming (Elizabeth shoutout) is very good, adapting the Benizakura Arc again was, in my opinion, a terrible idea. This is the third time we've seen this, while good, fairly basic story arc. I would have far preferred an original story that leans into the meta elements of Gintama and has the characters react to becoming live action, maybe it would be the main conflict of the film or maybe just a running joke. Also, the gags are pretty hit or miss, although having certain actual anime characters make appearances was such a good bit. This could have been far worse, but I also feel like there was potential for this to be something really special.
