the young adult vito parts were by far my favourite, and i really enjoyed them. loved the characterization and acting from de niro and it far surpassed brando in the first movie. the michael/sequel stuff was unengaging for me, and up until two hours into the film i really did not care and struggled to keep myself to the movie. but when the trial started i got interested in it. i enjoyed the last hour and a half, but it's by no way a favourite. i think it'd be better on a rewatch, because the build up takes a very long time, and the ending is good but it may hit better if you know the movie has a pay off worth sticking around to. i ended up reading and listening to talks on coppola and new hollywood to better appreciate this franchise that I feel very meh about, it made me more educated on this era of film but it didn't make me enjoy it more. Still and incredibly amazing ride. The further fall of the character of Michael Corleone is incredible to watch. The whole abortion scene was insane and somewhat terrifying. Loved to see a little more respect going to Tom and some more storyline importance thrown onto Fredo. Also great to see Robert De Niro as a young Vito, giving us backstory on how he came to be. Awesome that pretty much all of that backstory is in Italian, making it feel more important and historical for the family.
