That time when i found myself in a abandoned hospital that i had never been to, being chased by shadows like some horror movie and then waking up to see myself asleep in a room from a third person pov and then waking up to reality, or was it the reality? Guess there's only one way to find out.

i love the acting for the most part, although the women were both underwritten their acting may have been better if their characters were (not their fault), but the men were all really great in their roles. the concept was cool and interesting although the exposition was way too overdone and too much and took a god awful long time. this sort of movie thrives better, imo, if left a bit more unexplained.
so over to what I really didn't like: man, nolan will always have the cheesiest most cliche family/emotional element to his film and dialogue that is just, so blockbuster, y'know? the wife suicide thing almost made me laugh with how over the top soapy it all is. and the student assistant character (elliot page) was just so dumb of an addition. emotional support college girl for a traumatized dad? what? bringing her alone didn't make fucking sense (despite a scene trying to justify it, with her saying he neeeeeds her and him saying ok fine. like no actually you need to really explain this shit better than that because it makes absolutely no sense. you're not a therapist, you're a kid, who he explicitly said would not be brought along. lol). anyways the music and action and everything is way over the top for me but i can see why this was a great cinematic experience for the masses and i really wish i liked soapy action enough to enjoy it more.
this is definitely one of the ones i think deserve to be on the box office list, being original, fast paced and entertaining. and other than <i>ne zha 2 </i>(which I will see in cinemas in two weeks as it isn't out yet in norway) is my last movie on the all time worldwide box office stat list! what a ride you guys ! thank god im done (unless you fuckers manage to get the minecraft movie on there next month)

Based on the flood of "\_\_\_\_ception" memes that hit the 'net after this film came out, I expected… more.
As the cardinal rule of filmmaking says: "Show, don't tell." _Inception_ does an awful lot of telling. It (or its characters) never shuts up.
I will grant this: The visuals are incredible. From Ariadne's first ventures into the role of architect (the street-bending is aces) all the way down to Limbo. It's really too bad the writing wasn't equally nuanced.
Admittedly, _Inception_ doesn't have the _worst_ info-dumps ever. I just watched an episode of _The X-Files_, "The Erlenmeyer Flask", that had a scientist piling basic DNA science onto Agent Scully (a medical doctor) for the benefit of viewers who hadn't gotten to the DNA chapter of biology class yet. Now _that_ was bad. _Inception_ isn't quite that blatant about its info-dumps, but they do exist.
Putting off writing this review by a few hours really let me get tired, so I'm not inclined to write as much. But, it's also taught me that the plot isn't particularly memorable. The basic idea is simple, and things play out pretty much exactly as expected (broadly speaking). The details aren't that interesting, and the only plot point that surprised me (Dom actually being "responsible" for Mal's suicide) wasn't worth the overly long build-up.
Oh, did I mention this movie is two and a half hours long? It's too much. (About 7 minutes of the 148 are devoted to credits, and can be skipped if you wish, but that's still a _long_ film.) I checked the clock several times wondering just how much longer this ordeal would last. Fortunately the falling van gave me a decent point of reference, so I didn't have to check as often.
Mostly, I'm disappointed at the lack of substance. I expected some real profound shit, based on the hype. I didn't get it. Some people say you need to watch this film several times to get everything that's going on, but I don't think so. This is a one-and-done movie with some pretty action scenes and inconsistent treatment of its own mechanics. (Seriously, why do the gravitational effects from the van swerving around only penetrate one dream level?)
