This really was fantastic.
Unfortunately, the AMC Dolby Cinema theater was like maxed to the absolute limit and it legit ruined the experience some.
Quite good, but probably won't feel the need to rewatch it for a while.
I would've appreciated fewer recognizable actors.
This film is a perfect example of the gratuitousness and absurdity of SFX in modern films. Everything has to be so loud and exaggerated; subtlety is dead.
it was fine. obviously on the good end of that if i still say that after 3 hours haha, i did enjoy it all throughout, at least! worse action movies have most definitely been made. but it's just.. eh, not super special to me, idk, just didn't get the right feeling
i especially liked the scene with the dead men, and honestly the whole final part from the moment odysseus washes up on ithaca
i feel like there could've been a more engaging way to portray the travels before that. the journey is supposed to be tiring, and they made it gritty, but it felt lacking in emotion to me somehow? to be honest i'm not that sure, just how i felt about it
Will say I'm probably not the best judge because i never fully read the odessey, though i do know some from some basic ancient greek classes and just general knowledge/culture (but also listening to epic the musical far too much has probably unintentionally influenced my expectations in some way, even though that and this movie are obviously very different media 😅)
was kind of confused by helen's twin being played by the same actress (though i do not have any complaints on the casting of lupita nyong'o. also they really did mention zeus' law quite a lot. i get that it was a big part of the story but felt a bit too heavy handed to me
It took me a little while to fully get into this movie but the second half, especially when Odysseus came home, was really good.
I can only state the obvious and say the costumes, sets, actors, soundtrack,... are incredible. When the movie was over, I still thought about it for a while and it made me excited to read more Greek Myths.
It's an impressive movie, my prophecy is that it will be the next movie with 11 oscars xd
Not so secretly hoping for another Nolan scifi movie, as I'm a much bigger fan of those.
The film's compelling nature made its three-hour duration feel considerably shorter, akin to a two-hour experience. Once again, Christopher Nolan has demonstrated his remarkable artistic prowess, delivering another cinematic masterpiece.
He consistently excels in creating grand spectacles while simultaneously imbuing his narratives and characters with profound emotional depth. Indeed, Christopher Nolan has achieved yet another significant success.
It's really good. I like how they depict the Greek gods and mythologies. For example, Hell, it's so unique and interesting.
The sound work, damn.
Glued to the screen, it's long but you just always feel like you want to see more, like you enjoy every minute.

Anne Hathaway matches this weight, turning Penelope's decades of waiting into a silent, devastating battle of endurance, while Robert Pattinson brings a sharp, menacing charisma to the predatory Antinous. Hoyte van Hoytema’s IMAX 70mm cinematography captures the vast, lonely expanse of the Aegean with a crispness that makes you feel the salt spray on your skin. Ludwig Göransson’s score relies on metallic, ticking sirens and low brass groans that amplify the sensory onslaught.
It is a thunderous, exhausting experience that plays like a mythological horror, leaving you as though you’ve just survived the tide.
Verdict: Absolute masterpiece.
