Started strong, but eventually gave way ridiculousness. I initially passed on this because I am of the mind that if they won't even spring for mid quality animation, it must mean the story wasn't worth the investment and it's mostly just a money grab. A family member strongly urged me to try this, and despite my misgivings I gave in. I thought I was going to have to eat my words because it came out of the gate strong. The animation still made me trow up in my mouth a little bit, but I was actually enjoying the story. Unfortunately about mid way through it became clear it was just another over the top, low fruit offering. This makes me even more upset than not watching it at all, because there was a terrific story in there waiting to get out, and they just wasted it. It seem like a lot of people really enjoyed this show, and I'm not here to rain on anyone's parade, but I guess I just expect more. The story worked just fine without the need to make it just unbelievable. If I want over-the-top, I'll watch something like Gurren Laagann. It knows what it is and doesn't try to disguise itself as something that could be believable. This could have been a 9 with the proper animation treatment, and a little faith in the bones of story. By mid way through, Mizu sustains either a life threatening injury, or at minimum a debilitating one that no person could overcome in every battle, yet she recovers almost immediately and is nearly perfect by the next battle which is usually the next day.
