Decent but most definitely overrated. Nothing new with the oppressive overlords, and war is hell themes, yet they still failed at telling a compelling story. The amount of hand wringing and reflection easily ate up a third of the show. Get the audience to care about the characters enough that they feel the emotion organically, and then you don't have to constantly remind them of why they should care. The story was disjointed, the angst was forced, and the loli was plain ridiculous. Yet it still had enough going for it that it wasn't a disaster. The animation was above average, the mech and tech were interesting, and the character models were pleasing. If they had just teased out the story and character development a bit more, this would have been a home run. Not a waste of time, but it strives to be more than it was.
