They symbolism is uncanny to the first. The first scene, the belt , this time one turquoise belt was threaded. And many more, in the end when she tells her she knew about the book deal, she said “this is the information people run , run , run to tell you” like how Anna run in her youth
Ehhh.
I loved the first movie, one of my favourites. But this sequel was a pale comparison.
Everyone seemed out of character. Miranda for example has lost that air of superiority that made her the QUEEN of runway. In the first movie she seemed untouchable and aloof, and oh so, so powerful. But in this she just seems a bit... normal. And Emily, being made into the villain was not on my bingo card.
There were some scenes that seemed like they were in the wrong movie, and things didn't really flow as well as they could have imo. Not to mention the plot was very similar to the first one.
And when Andy showed up in the office wearing an almost identical blue sweater from the first movie (as a vest instead of a full sweater), and no one said a word about it was kinda weird.
There were some elements that I wondered if something had been cut, like when Sasha was saying she was newly engaged to a man who cares nothing for her money right after Andy started dating someone with a similar ethic, made me wonder if it was written to be that they were the same person. Not sure why they even needed to mention that Sasha was newly engaged otherwise. I kept waiting for that to be revealed but then no, we got another drawn out scene about the magazine going under.
It felt overly long, and at around the 45m mark I realised it still had over an hour to go, and I almost gave up on it.
That all said, it wasn't completely terrible, and it some good moments. But it has nothing on the first movie. The first one is iconic, this one will be forgotten.
