I was so happy to see a continuation of the first movie. The music was fantastic. I loved all the reference, the spacing was very good. At first I was afraid it was going to be focused on the galaxy part but no, it was a mix of everything.
I really liked the first Super Mario movie so I had high expectations but I didn't enjoy it as much. I also thought it was more childish, but maybe the first movie was the same and I just noticed it more this time.
I did really enjoy seeing the characters and the references to the video games.
Note for future self: Had the perfect bachelor party today with karting (my ribs hurt), kebab, this movie, bowling and playing snooker. Thank you mi amigos!
The animation and the music were fantastic! And I love all the references that they managed to fit into the movie, however the story is really lacking. I get it's a kid's movie but the story to the first movie was more interesting than this one. I also feel they could've done way more with it being a Super Mario Galaxy movie. All those planets they could've done stuff with and it ended up being a case of quickly go to a planet, oh nothing important here so move on to the next one.
I found out that the movie was originally going to be a Mario Odyssey movie which makes way more sense now, as there was a lot of Odyssey references for a movie that was supposed to be Mario Galaxy movie. It just felt more like a cash grab rather than a passion movie which is a real shame

It's entertaining and sweet. I liked that we saw more of Luigi and Mario together, the travel through the worlds and Star Fox appearance. A lot of action, many jokes, some cute moments. Luigi had hands down the best moments. What lacks most is the story. Some here say "Mario doesn't have a deep story anyway".
Alright, but this is a movie, not a game, right? Whole other dynamic. I would even argue that most newer Mario games also lack in the story. Sunshine is one of my favorite Mario games as it gives us a great own world and a pretty entertaining flow to follow. Wonder, for example, is just boring and doesn't bring in real new ideas, which does disappoint me but the games are fun (playing together) anyway. But this wont work as easily for a movie, which is the reason so many fans didn't like it as much.
It's chaotic and a tad too random. In the first movie we had a clear villian, a good easy introduction with Mario's family and the nice idea of having this real world and the world through the tubes. Most easter eggs were related to older games. In Galaxy I wish they would have kept only the Galaxy theme and perhabs Smash Bros references, without also a lot of Odyssey and Sunshine mixed in. Especially the finale felt rushed and way too much without being a proper highlight.
I wouldn't hate or even say it's a bad movie though. It's less good than the first but still enjoyable. The first had a nice mixture of references but telling it's own story, this one felt more like a easter egg mix. I hope they will become a bit more focused and creative for continuations. Hopefully without having to bring up again overused tropes of romances, difficult father-son relationships or similiar.
Best part of the movie just like the first is the scenes with Bowser. His son is OK, but Big B, he's a scene stealer. He's the man.
Yoshi, Peach, Bros and Toad are fine too.
Starfox didn't get enough love / do very much IMO.
Lot of other characters sprinkled in briefly for nostalgia.
Ending was anti climactic, but it's whatever. Not sure why everyone so hyped about Daisy (post credits)
Mid credits was kind of morbid, but I get it, that's the morbid star from movie 1.
As a major fan of super mario bros 2 as a kid, I truly appreciate this films references.. I really enjoyed this from beginning to end, so did my kids and wife, solid sequel, perhaps better than the first!
