The political climate in which <i>Carol of The Bells </i>was created in, automatically makes the movie a special one. Made incidentally at the commencement of Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine, the film is mostly concerned with female narratives during the second world war in the Ukrainian (formerly polish) city Ivano-Frankivsk. Despite the practical flaws of the movie (those children did not age one bit in more than 8 years), the somewhat tedious plot points and unprofessional set designs, <i>Carol of the Bells</i> is a hopeful and heart-wrenching movie about the forcefully severed bonds and the bonds that survive.
