[8.5/10] _Jackie Brown_ had been on my watchlist for years, but I went in knowing very little about the plot. Watching the story unfold was a lot more fun than I expected. As a fan of most Tarantino movies, I was surprised by how cohesive this one felt compared to some of his other works, with the pacing in particular. And it was FUNNY! I wish more of his films had this same balance. While I generally enjoy his exaggerated violence, I appreciated that this film relied less on it. I think the story felt more substantial in some ways as a result. I really enjoyed the cast (especially Pam Grier), and the soundtrack was fantastic—as expected from Tarantino. Plus, the shopping mall scenes made me feel so nostalgic! I know I’ll be recommending this to others, and I’ll probably even revisit it myself.
