I... didn't get this film. It can be due to the fact that I didn't know of Andy Kaufman and his twisted sense of humor before this movie so Jim Carrey's performance (albeit brilliant as always) made me cringe so much that I couldn't appreciate it for its ability in doing just that.
Milos Forman is a man of many talents. from Amadeus to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, he has proven time and time again that he's a visionary who will not limit himself and indeed he did not limit himself in this film. It didn't fit any biopic stereotype which I'm grateful for but I couldn't even follow the script after a while. Sure, writing a dark screenplay about a deceased (or is he?) artist that's supposed to look like a big hoax, is a hard task but I felt like they went a little overboard with the idea, to the point that I couldn't even find the structure of the film. Maybe this was their intention but it truly ravaged my viewing experience.
What I did enjoy was the final moments of the movie after Andy's diagnosis. His realization about the world being a cruel joke when he needed one last true thing to cling to, broke my heart.
